PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY
13-day ITINERARY
Arrival in the Kingdom
Participants arrive in Siem Reap and transfer to the hotel. In the evening, we gather for a welcome dinner to introduce the itinerary and photography goals. It’s a relaxed setting to get to know one another, review the days ahead, and share expectations for the tour.
Bayon and the Jungle Temples
We head out early to catch the first light at Ta Prohm. The temple’s stone walls are wrapped in towering tree roots, offering striking contrasts and soft morning shadows. After exploring a few nearby sites, we return to the hotel for a late breakfast and short rest.
In the heart of Angkor Thom, we photograph Bayon and its iconic towers carved with serene stone faces. We visit a quiet pagoda nearby and observe local rituals before finishing the day with warm, golden light across the temple grounds.
Lives Along Tonle Sap Lake
We visit a peaceful monastery at dawn to photograph monks in their morning routines. Their saffron robes, set against the cool early light, make for striking compositions. Afterwards, we stop by a bustling local market to capture street scenes and candid portraits.
We travel to Kompong Phluk, a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake. From small boats, we photograph daily life on the water — stilted houses, passing fishermen, and children paddling home from school.
Light Through Banteay Srei
We start the day at Banteay Srei, a small temple known for its detailed carvings in pink sandstone. The morning light brings out its textures beautifully. Next, we visit a local silk workshop to photograph artisans weaving by hand.
We head to Angkor Wat in the late afternoon to capture its iconic towers under the warm sunset light. The reflection pools and fading sky create a powerful final frame for the day.
Journey to Battambang
We travel west toward Battambang, stopping along the way to photograph roadside vendors and rural life. The landscapes shift as we cross into the region’s quieter countryside.
We explore Battambang’s colonial streets and local markets. Later, we visit a traditional brick factory and finish the day with a sunset session along the riverbanks.
Markets, Alleys & Bamboo Train
Battambang’s central market is alive with color and motion as the city wakes. We photograph vendors, street food, and the quiet charm of nearby alleys in the Old French Quarter.
We hop on the bamboo train and glide through rice fields and quiet villages. The ride offers a unique perspective on rural Cambodia, with the golden afternoon light adding warmth to every frame.
Offerings and Reflections
We begin at dawn, photographing monks walking barefoot through the streets collecting alms. The light is soft, the mood quiet, and the interactions deeply human.
We continue toward Kampong Chhnang, where we explore one of the largest floating villages on Tonle Sap. From small boats, we capture intimate portraits and daily routines among the stilted houses and waterways.
Phnom Penh in Motion
We begin the day photographing sugar palms rising over rice fields at sunrise. Farmers head into the fields as the mist lifts — a peaceful and timeless scene.
In Phnom Penh, we focus on the Central Market’s vibrant stalls and unique Art Deco architecture. We continue to the French Quarter to photograph its faded grandeur and street life in the late light.
Exploring the Open Country
We photograph early morning street scenes and markets in Phnom Penh before leaving the city.
We arrive in Kompong Thom and explore the surrounding countryside. Zebu cattle, rice paddies, and small markets offer quiet, authentic moments to capture.
Kampong Khleang Stilt Village
We start with a visit to the local market in Kompong Thom for street-style images and environmental portraits. After a brief photo review session, we travel toward the Tonle Sap.
At Kampong Khleang, we explore a stilt village by boat. The late afternoon light adds depth and drama to scenes of daily life on the water.
Angkor’s Hidden Gems & Countryside
We return to the Angkor complex to visit lesser-known temples hidden deep in the forest. These quieter sites offer a more intimate setting for capturing architectural details and mood.
We explore a nearby village in the evening light. Farmers finish their work, children play, and wooden houses catch the soft glow of sunset — a slow-paced and rewarding shoot.
Final Frames Among the Ruins
We start early for a sunrise shoot at Angkor Wat. With the right conditions, reflections and silhouettes provide powerful images. After a break, we hold a review session to reflect on the work produced.
Our final shoot takes us to Preah Khan — a temple where jungle and ruins meet. It’s a fitting place to end the journey with a mix of atmosphere, scale, and storytelling.
Farewell Cambodia
Transfer to the airport for your onward journey. For those with later flights, there’s time for a final walk or quiet morning in town.
